The amazing painter Arthur Price recently spent an entire day working with Olsen Ross’s studio classes at JCSVA. The artist shared his work and helped the students develop their own large scale compositions on un-stretched canvas.

Congratulations! Richard Moncrief was awarded an Irondale Education and Youth Fund Grant of $2000.00 for student art supplies.

JCSVA student Kennedy Lindberg’s creation from the Birmingham Fashion Week 2016: Rising Design Stars competition is featured in the AL.com article, “Alabama school students made these amazing garments without fabric or thread.”

Art works by current JCSVA students Michelle Byrd and Ella Crump  are featured in the Fall/Winter 2016 issue of Aura, The University of Alabama’s literary arts journal.

Here’s JCSVA student Michelle Nguyen being recognized on stage at the state capitol in Montgomery. Her artwork won “Best of Computer Image”  in the state-wide Visual Arts Achievement Program!
