Rick Moncrief has 39 years of experience in the world of Photography. He has professional experience in the fields of Commercial Photography, Medical Photography, Industrial Photography, and Portrait Photography. He has worked independently with his own Audio-Visual company, for a large corporation (Baptist Health Systems), a small company (Belmont Studios) and for the last 12 years as the only high school Career Technical Commercial Photography teacher in Jefferson County.


A native Californian, Rick has lived and worked in Birmingham since 1980. When not teaching, Rick enjoys working on fine art photography and painting landscapes in oil. He also enjoys practicing martial arts. Rick holds a third degree black belt in Yoseikan Budo and has been teaching in that martial art since 1976 when he received his first degree black belt.

Olsen Ross,  JCSVA Faculty

Olsen Ross creates romantic images of labors and idylls, heroic genre paintings, gaily costumed crime fighters and swarms of sinister putti.

Olsen Ross teaches introductory visual art through Advanced Placement as well as International Baccalaureate, animation and computer illustration courses at the Jefferson County School of Visual Art.

Olsen Ross serves as Technology Chair on the Board of the Alabama Art Education Association.
